Crap, and it happens in Firefox 3 as well.
#2 by Trent Gardner on August 6th, 2008 - 9:42 am
Iain, go to your Flickr Manager settings and change “Limit browse image size to” to something like square or thumbnail then click save.
2.0.4 had a massive revamp on the settings system, so you may just need to click save again.

thanks for the plugin. but why i got failed to open stream when i install it online. in my local test is works correctly. any idea?
#4 by Trent Gardner on August 6th, 2008 - 2:13 pm
Mario, does your web host have a firewall that’s blocking outgoing php connections?
#5 by Iain on August 6th, 2008 - 2:20 pm
Trent, thanks for the response. That worked great.
But now I’m having a problem where I uncheck the “close on insert” button but the window still closes after insert.
#6 by Trent Gardner on August 6th, 2008 - 2:27 pm
You’re using WordPress 2.6…
Unfortunately they changed the send_to_editor javascript function in the wordpress core to close the thickbox window whenever an image is inserted..
I was going to remove the ‘close on insert’ check box in my latest release, but I decided to leave it there for everyone who hasn’t upgraded their copy of wordpress yet.
I might try to look into a work around for it in the next release
#7 by Iain on August 7th, 2008 - 2:31 am
Do you have a link where I can download the older version of the Flickr Manager that put the manager in the posting page, instead of this fancy new popup window? I post a lot of pics in my blog and it’s a huge problem to put multiple pictures in my posts.
thanks.
#8 by Trent Gardner on August 7th, 2008 - 9:17 am
Every version of Flickr Manager still has that, just go to your settings page and check “Enable Legacy Support”
EDIT: If you redownload the latest version of Flickr Manager, the close on insert button will be fixed for WordPress 2.6 again!
#9 by duran on August 10th, 2008 - 4:20 am
umm, I upgraded to the release from Aug 5th, and lightbox stopped working.
It now takes you to the flickr page for the image, instead of loading the lightbox popup.
Thoughts?
Thanks

Hey Mr. Gardner, first of all, thank you for an AWESOME plug-in.
Secondly, I’m having some problems since I upgraded to 2.0.4 and WP 2.6. The new way of adding pictures doesn’t work good, I’m getting red warning text in the popup windows saying “Warning: ini_set() has been disabled for security reasons in /data/members/paid/i/l/ilmari.se/htdocs/www/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-flickr-manager/MediaPanel.php on line 26″ – is this due to settings on my server?
The rest of the popup window loads, I can see my pictures but not click on them.
However, the old way of posting images still work good.

Veeery nice plugin so far… but i only get the “This photo is currently unavailable” notice in the Lightbox/Highslide for _any_ photo.
Where the … might that come from?
#12 by Marcus on August 17th, 2008 - 12:17 am
OK, seems like it doesnt work if large == original size as it wont find the large version… or something like that
#13 by Pablo DiCiacco on August 23rd, 2008 - 6:32 am
All the posted problems concerning IE7… when will those people wise up, get out of the stone-age and start using Firefox? I have noticed in many a support section that developers are either ignoring or flatly stating that they will not make changes to suit IE7… good call as far as I’m concerned. Too many php and css files have to include fixes to accomodate IE. Hey, forget about it!
#14 by duran on August 24th, 2008 - 3:19 am
@Pablo DiCiacco
Unfortunately 90% of the world is shipping with IE7 and soon IE8 as the standard browsers, and a huge portion of those computers will never have any alternative browser installed.
Yes, I agree its a major hassle, and MS needs to get out of their stone age position of building proprietary systems like it… but…. its the sad truth that everyone will be using it for the years to come.

hi, this is a great , great plugin! i tried to use it but when i viewed the post and clicked on the images they linked into flickr and didnt open the nice lightbox window. unsure why. can anyone help?
#16 by peet on August 25th, 2008 - 11:02 pm
Nice plugin mate. Unfortunately the Large JS viewer thing won’t work. “This photo is currently unavailable” is the message I get, can this still be fixed?
#17 by JC on August 29th, 2008 - 3:01 am
Great plugin!
However, found that it has some issues with “ShareThis” and “WP-dTree”. Any solution?
#18 by John B on September 4th, 2008 - 6:22 am
Just an FYI…awesome plugin, but it useless in IE8….hope you get it with IE8 soon….you’ve done a great job..
#19 by dave on September 15th, 2008 - 4:27 am
How about this:
“You do not have permission to upload photos to this stream, you may adjust this in the settings page!”
I’m, using wordpress 2.6.2
#20 by gwkg on September 21st, 2008 - 10:46 am
There is a big difference between having to make your website compatible to IE7 and having to make your free plugin compatible to IE7.
Great plugin, Trent.

I already use fancybox in my blog, but it opens the flikr page of the image instead of the actual image.. is there a way i can work around that? a way to make thumbnails point directly to the image?
#22 by Alyse on September 27th, 2008 - 3:59 pm
When trying to put a set into a post it gives me a 403 Forbidden error… “You don’t have permission to access /blog/wp-admin/post.php on this server”
If I try to put in images, it’s fine, and if I try to put a set in a page it’s fine, I just can’t do it in a post. Am I doing something wrong?
I skimmed over the previous comments and didn’t see the answer to this, but I’m sorry if it’s already been addressed.
Thanks,
Alyse
#23 by Alyse on September 27th, 2008 - 4:01 pm
I’m dumb, I guess I have to check the “put this in a set” box, like a smart person would! Haha, sorry to waste your time.

Hi, I like the plugin but how can I hack the default HTML snippet for inserting photos to include their height and width attributes? I thought it was considered good web design practice to do this, so that the browser can reserve space for the image but keep rendering the page while waiting for the image to load.
The Flickr snippet includes the attributes, but if I have to go to Flickr to get them, then that defeats the purpose of having this plugin. Can you help? Many thanks!
#25 by ts on October 1st, 2008 - 1:09 pm
Hi, I’ve been using your plugin a while now, and I think it’s a great addition to the WP media management. But I think it has the potential to become a real killer – I haven’t really looked at the code yet, but I was wondering if it wasn’t possible to use it as a picture insertion tool for all kinds of sites, say wikimedia commons, sxc – so it would be possible to search pictures on these sites and insert them (or automatically download them to a specified directory and then insert them) into the posts all from the edit page. I think this would allow people to use a lot more images to illustrate their posts as finding illustrations would become as easy as writing text in WP. I may look into this myself, but since you wrote that amazing plugin, I thought you may be interested in this suggestion.

This plugin causes problems with Wordpress themes created by http://themehybrid.com
I really, really like this plugin so I’m adding this info from the ThemeHybrid forum I posted today:

Is there anyway to make a slide show with highslide JS enabled? Thank you.
#28 by mark k. on November 6th, 2008 - 8:24 pm
Hi, I’m trying to use the plugin for uploading images to flicker, but the upload don not succeed – there is no error but the image is not uploaded.
when I dump the response received in upload.php line 25 it shows an xml which contains an “invalid signature code=96″ error message.
Any Idea what might be wrong?
#29 by Jason on January 9th, 2009 - 6:52 pm
After upgrading to 2.1.1, the JS no longer works with newly inserted images. It just goes straight to the flickr page of the image. However, images from my older posts still pop up in Lightbox/Highslide.
#30 by Mark Harris on January 10th, 2009 - 10:20 pm
Hi Trent,
Great plugin, I’ve been using it for a while. However, the search functionality really doesn’t work well. I can go to the flickr website and find a creative commons licensed photo I want to insert, but then when I go back to my wordpress site and try to find the same photo using flickr manager, I can almost never find it. This is almost always true for others’ photos, and sometimes true for my own photos.
As an example, today I’m trying to insert photos of North Stradbroke Island. In flickr I search for “North Stradbroke” and get this (most of the photos are by Michael Dawes, and his photos are share-alike licensed). http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=north+stradbroke&l=cc&ss=0&ct=0&w=all
But when I search for “North Stradbroke” in flickr manager, I can never find Michael Dawes’ photos.
Please fix this, or at least allow me to enter the URL or ID of a photo I like into flickr manager!
Thanks!
Mark

I believe I posted this in the wrong area earlier, sorry. I’m having the same problem that Jason mentioned above concerning the 2.1.1 update.
Since the latest Flickr Manager update, HighSlide doesn’t seem to be working. I can insert photos into the blog, but if I click on the photos, it takes me to my flickr page instead of the HighSlide box opening. Right now, I’m using the code from previous posted (before latest update) pictures, then changing the url to the photos to get it to work.
BTW, this is one the best plugins available. I truly love the HighSlide integration, makes things look very professional. Great job.
#32 by Trent Gardner on January 11th, 2009 - 6:23 pm
Confirmed the issue regarding image overlay not working on newly inserted images. Fixed in version 2.1.2

Thanks so much for your quick response and fix Trent. Again, great work and it is really appreciated!
#34 by Leo on January 12th, 2009 - 2:25 am
Hi Trent,
Thank you for the plug-in.
I got this problem ones i want to add the picture to my post.
Do you have any idea?
Warning: ini_set() has been disabled for security reasons in /data/members/paid/a/p/apogeex.nl/htdocs/www/weblog/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-flickr-manager/MediaPanel.php on line 26
#35 by Trent Gardner on January 12th, 2009 - 12:53 pm
Hi Leo,
For now you can just delete line 26 of MediaPanel.php and that will fix your problem. I’ve included this patch in the next release, but I’m not sure how soon that’s going to be.
#36 by Scott on January 12th, 2009 - 1:27 pm
Hey Trent, This is the perfect plugin for me and works great getting my sets into my posts, except I can’t get the highslide or lightbox to work. I get the same problem that a few others have had with it going straight to the flickr page, and not doing the overlay. I’m on WP 2.7 and I’ve got 2.1.2 of the flickr manager.
Do I need to add something to get it to work properly?
#37 by Trent Gardner on January 12th, 2009 - 2:27 pm
Hi Scott, just had a look at your site. The problem isn’t with the plugin, it’s with your theme. In between the <head> … </head> tags you have to make sure the line <?php wp_head(); ?> is there. If your theme is missing it, you’ll have problems down the track with a lot of plugins.
Trent

Thanks Trent, really appreciate that, works perfectly now.
#39 by Alexander Walter on January 13th, 2009 - 3:07 am
Hey,
great plugin, thanks! just one thing: My lightbox windows are pretty small, even in the “large” setting. Any way to make them bigger? Thanks!
ALEXander.
#40 by John Boyd on January 17th, 2009 - 11:56 pm
Hey Trent,
One more question. Plugin seems to be working fine, but I’m still having one issue. If I insert multiple photos or even an entire set into a post, using the arrow buttons have no affect. If I click on a photo, it opens in it’s box, but if I click on one of the arrows, that photo closes, but the next one does not open up. Any clue?
#41 by JY PIGNAL on January 19th, 2009 - 12:23 am
Hi Trent,
Thanks a lot for your plug-in which fits exactly my needs of newbee.
I have too issues using it. Please forgive me if they are due to my own incompetency.
1) I have regularly problems when clicking on images (like on this page : http://www.audeladufarghestan.fr/?p=102 . The thumbmail is correct, but when one click on the image ‘this photo is currently anavailable’ appears. It seems to be erractic. Any idea of the cause ?
2) I would to insert set of albums created on my Flickr but I can only see in my list 8 albums out of 11. Do you know why ?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
JY

Great plug-in, exactly what I wanted. I have one request (wishlist), an option to insert images without link wrapping.
Thanks
#43 by Marco on January 20th, 2009 - 11:24 pm
Hello,
First let me say I love this plugin! It is exactly what I have been searching for.
The problem I’m having is that I can’t get both this plugin and my regular links to both use the lightbox effect concurrently. It seems that if one if working the other is not.
What is the correct way to get this plugin to coexist with standard lightbox 2?
#44 by Trent Gardner on January 22nd, 2009 - 1:35 pm
@John – This issue should be fixed in 2.2
@Jy – You can only use the large setting in the image viewer, if a large version of the image exists. (A way to check what’s available, is when you click on an image to insert it, the sizes listed in the pop up menu are the only sizes that exist).
@Tim – The link has to be wrapped in order to be inline with the Flickr Community Guidelines.
@Marco – I’ll look into it
#45 by John Boyd on January 22nd, 2009 - 4:46 pm
Sorry Trent, still doesn’t seem to be working. Is there something that I’m missing? I deactivated the plugin, copied the new one and activated it. I then edited the post to insert the new set, but the arrow keys still don’t seem to want to work. Appreciate your time and attention that you give this plugin…btw love the widget…
#46 by Marco on January 22nd, 2009 - 9:36 pm
Trent, I got WFM working concurrently with slimbox instead of lightbox. Works well enough for me.
Had trouble installing the latest update though. Got the following:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘{’ in /home/nazcavfx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-flickr-manager/FlickrManager.php on line 1311
#47 by JF on January 23rd, 2009 - 12:08 am
Hello, I get the same error as Marco, with lightbox…
Any idea?
How can I revert to 2.1.1 which was working, to wait the fix.
THanks, JF

Great Plugin, I got it working on WP 2.7 with K2 RC7 Theme. The only feature I’d like to be added is the possibility to add an entire Album to the post instead of doing that photo by photo, using a Gallery. Thanks.
#49 by Matthew on January 23rd, 2009 - 4:10 am
I am also getting the Parse error:
syntax error, unexpected ‘{’ in wordpress-flickr-manager/FlickrManager.php on line 1311
Thanks for any assistance
#50 by Chris on January 23rd, 2009 - 4:25 am
I’m getting the same error as Marco. I tried the automatic upgrade as well as deleting the plugin and re-uploading it. Same message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘{’ in /nfs/c02/h04/mnt/43082/domains/leboe.ca/html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-flickr-manager/FlickrManager.php on line 1311
Any chance that 2.1 is available in the interim?
Great plugin by the way!
